Job description

The Public Safety Officer Unarmed protects personnel and property within the INTEGRIS Health buildings and on all contiguous grounds. The Public Safety Officer Unarmed prevents criminal, destructive, or disruptive activity, corrects hazardous and unsafe conditions, controls pedestrian and vehicle traffic, provides public service to patients, visitors, and employees, and performs parking enforcement duties when directed. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on patient contact level. Qualifications

  • 12 credit hours of college preferred.
  • Certification from International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety within 1 year of hire.
  • CLEET Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • 1 year private security or police experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills in English (verbal/written).
  • MMPI or CPI psychological evaluation required post-hire for Taser weapon evaluation.
  • Current Oklahoma State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring property and facilities are secure, and taking proper action regarding unauthorized or illegal entry.
  • Controlling pedestrian and vehicle traffic, issuing citations, and conducting accident investigations as appropriate.
  • Providing public services such as motorist and patient assistance and escorts.
  • Assisting with fire drills and inspecting the facility for hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Preparing written reports and documenting events accurately.
  • Providing assistance at the helicopter pad during landings and emergencies.
  • Completing special projects assigned by supervisors and ensuring adherence to security policies and procedures.
  • Assisting clinical staff in the restraint of disruptive or violent patients.
  • Detaining criminal suspects for police when appropriate.

This position reports to the Public Safety Sergeant, Lieutenant, and the Public Safety Manager. It may involve physical demands and respiratory fit testing. The role includes interactions with potentially combative persons, participation in fire and bomb threat responses, and work inside and outside in various weather conditions.
