Job description

Hourly Pay Range: $18.03 - $27.32. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Public Safety Officer
  • Location: Skokie Hospital
  • Per Diem: Resource - as needed
  • Hours: Schedule will fluctuate based on day-to-day staffing needs.
  • Shift differential pay for evenings, nights, and weekends.

Position Overview:

The purpose of this job is to provide security services to staff and visitors with professionalism, fairness, and compassion in even challenging circumstances and in accordance with policies, procedures, and training.

What you will do:

  1. Inspire confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor.
  2. Exercise critical thinking skills and work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff to determine the best course of action to preserve safety.
  3. Be alert, observant, and ethical.
  4. Comply with and enforce all safety and security rules and regulations.
  5. Maintain department uniform and keep equipment in good repair.
  6. Perform routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and security, including inspections, audits, and valuables management.
  7. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Use computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and web navigation for documentation and data entry.
  9. Meet and maintain current Department training standards including radio communications, de-escalation, CPR, and clinical restraints.
  10. Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical personnel to evaluate appropriate actions.

What you will need:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Preferred 3-5 years in security, law enforcement, military, or customer service roles involving emergent situations and risk resolution.
  • Certification: Valid Driver's License and PERC Card issued by Illinois within 9 months of employment; FOID card preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire.
