Position Highlights:
  • Position: Public Safety Officer
  • Hourly Pay Range: $18.03 - $27.32. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
  • Location: All hospitals of Endeavor Health
  • Per Diem: Resource - As Needed
  • Hours: Shifts vary according to scheduling needs; rotating shifts including Day, PM, Nights
Position Overview

The purpose of this job is to provide security services to staff and visitors with professionalism, fairness, and compassion, even in challenging circumstances, in accordance with policies, procedures, and training.

What you will do:
  • Inspire confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor.
  • Exercise critical thinking skills and collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff to determine the best course of action to ensure safety.
  • Remain alert, observant, and ethical.
  • Comply with and enforce all safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Maintain department uniform and keep equipment in good repair.
  • Perform routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and security, including inspections, hazard identification, audits of safety measures, and safeguarding patient valuables.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Use a computer to document work using Microsoft Word, Excel, web navigation, and database entry.
  • Meet and maintain current department training standards, including radio communication, verbal de-escalation, CPR, clinical restraints, etc.
  • Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical personnel to evaluate appropriate actions.
What you will need:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Preferred 3-5 years in security, law enforcement, military, or customer service roles involving emergency response and risk identification.
  • Certification: Valid Driver's License and PERC Card issued by the State of Illinois within 9 months of employment; FOID card preferred, or obtained within 90 days of hire.
