The Des Peres Department of Public Safety is recruiting to establish an eligibility list for the following position:
The Des Peres Department of Public Safety provides Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical services to a community of 9,193. The salary range for Public Safety Officer is $71,511 to $100,115, with a starting salary up to $83,770 (depending on qualifications and experience) plus an excellent benefits package. Successful applicants may be cross-trained as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). The department also offers a Paramedic incentive training program.
Initial assignments will primarily be in patrol operations or the West County Center Detail. Until fully cross-trained, the starting salary range for Police Officer-EMT is $68,106 to $95,348, with a starting salary up to $79,781 (depending on qualifications and experience).
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and meet all statutory requirements as a Class A, POST certified police officer in the State of Missouri. Prior experience as a police officer is not required but preferred. Emergency medical services and firefighter experience are preferred but not mandatory at the time of application. The department is placing an emphasis on those applicants who possess a valid Paramedic or EMT license, and/or have emergency medical service experience.
The selection process will include pre-applicant screening, preliminary interview, written examination, oral interview, interview with the Director of Public Safety, psychological exam, and pre-employment physical including a full drug screen.
