Job summary

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital in Los Angeles is seeking a Public Safety Officer I–III for full‑time day shifts. The role covers patrols, emergency response, incident reporting, access control, and guest assistance to ensure a safe hospital environment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, a CA guard card, CPR/BLS, and strong communication and investigation skills. Healthcare experience and military background are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid CA guard card required.
• CPR/AHA Basic Life Support within 90 days.
• 6–12 months experience in Security/Public Safety preferred.
• Military experience is a plus.
• Excellent guest relations skills required.
• Ability to conduct investigations and report writing.
• Basic knowledge of CCTV and de‑escalation helpful.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vehicle and foot patrols to maintain a secure environment.
• Respond promptly to calls for service.
• Communicate via radio with dispatch and officers.
• Investigate incidents and assist with investigations.
• Complete reports and daily logs for security activities.
• Provide professional service to staff, patients, and visitors.
• Maintain professional conduct and department standards.
• Report safety violations to leadership.
• Assist with patient restraints as directed by medical staff.
• Respond to fire alarms and security alarms within the facility.
• Perform access control at assigned posts.
• Monitor CCTV systems and surveillance cameras.
• Maintain relationships with local and federal law enforcement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
