Overview

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provide a visible presence across Mercy properties through foot, bicycle, and vehicle patrols.
  2. Enforce Mercy policies to ensure safety and security; request police assistance when necessary.
  3. Ensure doors are locked at appropriate times; search and secure areas found open, report insecure areas.
  4. Secure valuables for patients, document pickups, and return property to owners.
  5. Respond to calls for non-violent and violent patient assists, including patient lifts, elopements, and assisting clinical staff in restraining patients.
  6. Greet everyone courteously and provide escorts to guests and patients unless on a high-priority call.
  7. Complete accurate reports promptly, including all relevant information and follow-up actions.
  8. Communicate important information to managers and directors in a timely manner.
  9. Understand and operate panic, intrusion, infant alarm systems, CCTV, and recording devices.
  10. Respond to alarms, codes, and dispatch requests for assistance.
  11. De-escalate potentially violent situations using authorized control techniques.
  12. Assist with fire drills in coordination with FMO and ESEM for compliance.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • At least 18 years old
  • Valid State driver’s license
  • Valid local, state, or federal Public Safety/Security licensure as required
  • Meets all requirements of Public Safety Officer I and completes annual Functional Job Screening
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree
  • Previous security, military, or law enforcement experience
