Job summary

Paycom - ATS is hiring a Public Safety Officer II for the New Bedford Health Center to deter crime and safeguard staff and patients. You will respond quickly to emergencies, open/close the facility, monitor entryways, and escort people as needed.

The role requires a MA License to Carry, OC, Taser, MOAB and CHSO certifications or plans to obtain them within six months. The ideal candidate has law enforcement or healthcare security experience, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Current or previous law enforcement or five years security in healthcare.
• Licensure: Massachusetts LTC required.
• OC/Taser/MOAB/CHSO certifications obtainable within 6 months.
• MS Office familiarity required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergencies and staff reports promptly (2-3 minutes).
• Open/secure the Health Center; manage doors, alarms and lighting.
• Escort visitors, patients and staff between locations as needed.
• Report incidents to supervisor to prevent injury or loss.
• Assist in maintenance and housekeeping duties as needed.
• Monitor entrances in inclement weather and treat entryways as needed.
• Carry a radio and communicate clearly with officers.
• Familiarity with emergency water, gas, fire systems and power shutoffs.
• Willing to work shifts beyond the regular schedule for coverage.

Job Details: Job Location: New Bedford MA - New Bedford, MA 02740, Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00 Hourly, Qualifications: The Public Safety Officer II provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities within the Health Center by being noticeably present.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Responds within 2-3 minutes to emergency and non-emergency situations as reported by the staff.
• Responsible for opening the Health Center. Ensures the building is de-alarmed, appropriate doors are open and unlocked.
• At the close of business, ensures the Health Center is secured by checking all the doors, checks that all persons have left the building, shuts off lights and unnecessary appliances, and secures all outside doors and alarms the building.
• Escorts visitors, patients and personnel to various locations of the Health Center as needed.
• Reports to supervisor any incidence of visitor or employee actions which could result in injury or loss to company or employees.
• Assists in the maintenance and housekeeping duties as needed.
• Monitors walks during in climate weather and assess in treating entrance ways if needed.
• Is responsible for carrying a radio and being able to communicate to other officers clearly over the radio.
• Must be familiar with the emergency water, gas, fire system and electric shut offs in the event of an emergency situation.
• Willing to work shifts other than regularly assigned schedule to assure full coverage at the Health Center.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Must meet the physical demands for performing the duties of this job.
• Courteous manner in dealing with the public.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & OTHER CREDENTIALS:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Current or previous law enforcement experience or five years security experience in a Healthcare setting.
• Certification/Licensure: Current Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms (LTC)
• O.C. (Oleoresin Capsicum) Certification or able to obtain in 6 months
• Taser Operator Training or able to complete in 6 months.
• MOAB trained or completed in 6 months.
• Certified Healthcare Security Office (CHSO) or able to obtain in 6 months.
• Software/Hardware: Experience using computers and Microsoft Office is required.
