Position Overview
Location: Christ Medical Center; Oak Lawn, IL.
Registry/PRN status - scheduled on-call, as needed, to help fill in for departmental gaps and needs.
2nd shift coverage when scheduled
Responsibilities
- Provide security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion, following policies, procedures, and training. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor to inspire confidence.
- Conduct interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety, identify vulnerabilities, hazards, fire conditions, manage patient valuables, and perform contraband searches. Assist patients, visitors, and team members.
- Respond to workplace violence, service calls, and de-escalate situations as needed.
- Plan, prevent, and respond to emergencies such as lost children, fire, and active threats. Intervene physically when necessary.
- Investigate incidents, complete reports, and escalate complaints appropriately.
- Perform liaison rounding, security awareness education, and coordinate with law enforcement and first responders.
- Maintain current training standards in communication, de-escalation, CPR, restraints, Taser, and equipment use.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Typically 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service responding to emergent situations.
- State of Illinois armed course completion, firearm endorsement, valid driver’s license, FOID or CCW license.
- Certification in Taser use within 90 days of hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Willingness to carry a firearm and maintain required certifications.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, handle dangerous situations, and communicate effectively.
- Physical ability to perform job functions, including restraining individuals and operating equipment.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, drive, lift up to 35 lbs, and operate firearms safely.
- Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20.
- Exposure to hazards, emotionally charged situations, and personal stress.
