Public Safety Officer I - Armed (Full Time, N. Western Ave.)

Position Details
  • Location: 4025 N. Western Ave., Chicago, IL
  • Schedule: Full Time; Monday-Friday, with possible weekend coverage. Specific hours to be discussed during the interview.
Major Responsibilities
  • Provide professional, fair, and compassionate security services, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols, inspections, and audits to ensure safety and security.
  • Respond to and investigate workplace violence, service calls, and emergencies, including de-escalation and physical intervention if necessary.
  • Investigate incidents, complete reports, and coordinate with law enforcement and first responders.
  • Perform security awareness education and liaison duties within departments.
  • Maintain training standards, including radio communications, de-escalation, CPR, restraints, and Taser use.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service responding to emergent situations.
  • Valid driver’s license, FOID card or CCW license, and Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO).
  • Ability to carry a firearm, pass background checks, and complete required training within specified timelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Completion of Illinois 40-hour armed course with pistol endorsement.
  • Willingness to carry and maintain department-issued firearm and holster.
  • Strong judgment, communication skills, and ability to handle stressful and physically demanding situations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, lift up to 35 lbs., and operate firearms safely.
  • Corrected 20/20 vision, exposure to hazards, and handling emotionally charged situations.

This role requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to respond effectively in emergencies. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as necessary.
