Job summary

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD is seeking a Public Safety Officer to patrol the campus by foot, on a mobile unit, or bicycle to protect against theft, hazards, and security breaches.

The role includes a night shift 12:00AM to 8:00AM with competitive benefits and PTO. Requirements include one year of security experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and basic security officer training.

Qualifications

• One year of security experience in protective services.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School diploma or equivalent required; basic security training expected.
• Successful completion of 911/communications dispatch training required for Communications Center.

Responsibilities

• Patrol Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center campus by foot, mobile unit or bicycle.
• Protect against theft, vandalism, hazardous conditions and other breaches of security.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate with security and hospital staff as needed.

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for patrolling JHMI campus via foot, mobile unit or bicycle to protect against illegal activities, theft, fire, vandalism, hazardous conditions, infringements, etc.

Education

• Work requires a comprehensive knowledge of security functions as would normally be acquired
• by significant experience in a security operation preferably with completion of a High School
• degree or equivalent. Requires acceptable completion of basic security officer training.
• Assignment to the Communications Center requires successful completion of 911 and
• Communications dispatch training.

Requirements

• Requires current certification in use of Corporate Security Services self defense equipment.

Work Experience

• The candidate must have one (1) year of security experience in the Protective Services Officer
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Salary Range

Minimum 17.37/hour - Maximum 28.68/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
