Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals seeks a Public Safety Officer to patrol campuses, preserve safety for patients, visitors and staff, and investigate irregularities. You will provide information and assistance while managing visitor control and monitoring CCTV systems 24/7 across Wake County facilities.

The role supports the Campus Police & Public Safety department, which promotes a secure environment and rapid response to emergencies. EOE

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree preferred; Criminal Justice preferred; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 2+ years in security, law enforcement, public safety, or military experience preferred.
• 2+ years clinical EMS or medical transport experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to ensure safety of patients, visitors, staff and property.
• Control visitor access and investigate irregularities.
• Issue information and assist patients, visitors and staff as needed.
• Monitor CCTV and security/communications systems across campuses.

Overview

The Public Safety Officer provides security of patients, visitors, staff and property by patrolling assigned areas, maintaining visitor control and investigating irregularities. Provides information and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff. The Campus Police & Public Safety department promotes a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors. Available 24 hours a day, monitoring emergency security/communications systems within the hospital, investigating irregularities and managing the CCTV surveillance cameras located across the campuses/facilities.
