Job summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a Public Safety Officer to help maintain safety and security across its Lansing, MI facilities. The role involves responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, protecting staff, and ensuring confidentiality while coordinating with district personnel.

Job description

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. The Public Safety Officer will maintain the safety and security of their building by responding to emergency and non-emergency situations. The position involves maintaining confidentiality, conducting investigations, and ensuring proper communication with staff. This is a full-time role, requiring flexibility and strong decision-making skills.

Qualifications - Education & Certification
  • Minimum high school diploma plus some college coursework
  • Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
Qualifications - Experience
  • MCOLES certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification.
  • Previous law enforcement or security experience preferred.

$20.13 - $24.01 an hour

Hourly rate based on CCLPI salary schedule. Previous equivalent experience may factor into placement, but most new hires will be placed at the base of the salary scale.
