Qualifications

• Apprenticeship program in the trade area or 4–6 years of on-the-job training in the trade area.
• Experience with installation of emergency equipment in Patrol Vehicles (Radar, Radios, Lighting, etc.).
• Ability to wire and fuse equipment properly.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance on DPS-owned vehicles and equipment.
• Conducts routine inspections to identify safety concerns and potential failures.
• Diagnoses problems using diagnostic tools and service manuals; documents findings and repairs.
• Maintains service, inspection, and maintenance records for vehicles and equipment.
• Ensures work complies with DPS policies, safety standards, and manufacturer specs.
