Job summary

The Iowa State University Department of Public Safety seeks a Public Safety Dispatcher I to provide communications for university police and surrounding agencies. You will operate multi-frequency radios, computer systems, phones, TDD, and monitor emergency lines, ensuring timely information relay and safety.

Qualifications

• Two years of clerical education or experience equivalent to full-time work.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

• Operate a multi-frequency radio system per FCC regulations and maintain logs.
• Answer and route calls via a multi-line telephone system for emergency and business information.
• Monitor 911 phone system and relay information to units.
• Dispatch duty personnel to requests for assistance or incidents.
• Provide information to visitors, staff and students and notify on-call personnel as required.
