Job summary

The Department of Public Safety seeks individuals to become DPS Officer Cadets who will train at the Nevada POST academy to obtain certification for law enforcement duties. Cadets join locations across Nevada to establish an eligible list for future DPS Officer roles.

Cadets graduate to DPS Officer 1 after academy completion. The selection includes a POST fitness exam, written test, polygraph, background checks, medical and psychological evaluations, and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Cadets must be 21+ years old and graduated high school or equivalent.
• Trained at the Nevada POST academy with classroom and field exercises.
• Evaluated on participation, coursework, assignments, and written performance examinations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
