Job description

The Public Safety Ambassador is a full-time, civilian (non-sworn) position that aids the citizens, visitors, and businesses of Pittsburgh . This entry-level position is intended as a potential first step in a career path of public service. The ideal candidate must be multitask- oriented, with a friendly disposition and strong customer service and report - writing skills .

General Application Requirements :

  • A current, valid Class C Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operator's License must be presented and verified prior to appointment, and must be maintained throughout employment.   • Must obtain CPR Certification within ninety (90) days of date of hire and must maintain the certification throughout employment.

  • EQUIVALENCY:None permitted for this position. Therefore, no education/training and/or work experience may be substituted toward the qualifying requirements listed above.

You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position.   • Responds to code and parking enforcement-related issues.
  • Works collaboratively with the public safety bureaus and the community.

  • Reports to locations to provide a physical presence and/or traffic control as required.
  • Engages with other public safety personnel to facilitate information sharing.
  • Assists public safety personnel with duties to include administrative assignments.
  • Contacts various governmental groups to facilitate information flow.
  • Operates a motor vehicle.
  • Administers first aid to individuals in need.
  • Participates in assigned public safety training courses and meetings as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
