What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and execute compelling, mission-driven story pitches to targeted education, innovation, and human interest media contacts
  • Cultivate and nurture meaningful relationships with journalists, editors, and producers who align with our educational vision
  • Transform student outcomes, data points, and thought leadership into media-ready narratives that capture attention
  • Partner with our leadership team to identify and amplify strategic storylines that advance our mission
  • Continuously evaluate media coverage for brand alignment and refine your approach based on results

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Distributing generic press releases to outdated contact lists and hoping for results
  • Creating hype around AI terminology or reinforcing "robot school" stereotypes—our story is about education, not tech
  • Passively responding to news cycles—we expect you to proactively create compelling narratives
  • Accepting surface-level mentions or misleading coverage that doesn't accurately represent our educational model

Public Relations Specialist Key Responsibilities

Spearhead and implement a comprehensive media relations strategy designed to establish 2 Hour Learning as a credible, innovative force in education through strategic placement of high-value earned media coverage across relevant platforms.

Basic Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of 5+ years in media relations, PR, or journalism with verifiable success securing placements in significant outlets
  • Proven ability to establish and sustain productive relationships with media professionals
  • Superior writing capabilities with talent for crafting pitches that resonate across different media beats
  • Comprehensive understanding of news cycles, editorial priorities, and the elements that constitute a compelling story
  • Genuine enthusiasm for educational innovation coupled with the ability to translate educational concepts into engaging narratives
  • US-based with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $75 USD/hour, which equates to $150,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
