Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe is seeking a Communications Specialist to strengthen relationships with the public and media across newsletters, the website, and social channels.

The role supports the Tribal Council, ensures consistent messaging, and requires event attendance, fact-checking, and timely content production to promote the Tribe's image and priorities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with the general public and media.
  • Direct development and maintenance of newsletters, webpages, social media, photos, and press releases.
  • Ensure consistent statements with Tribal Council and Government when needed.
  • Attend Tribal events, meetings and gatherings as requested.
  • Perform research and fact-checking to support communications.
  • Meet deadlines and manage high volume content production.
  • Work independently and as part of a team with professionalism.

Job description

Serves Tribal Council and Government in building and maintaining relationships with the general public and the media through numerous methods of communication.

Works to positively to enhance the image of the Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe through directing the development and maintenance of a monthly newsletter, webpage, social media platforms, photos, messaging, media and press releases, building and maintaining relationships with the general public and media on behalf of the Tribe through media platforms, website, and face to face interactions, as well as working closely with Council and Tribal Government to ensure consistent and unified statements and positions when necessary to the community and surrounding areas. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • Excellent command of the English language and solid editing, grammar and punctuation skills and must demonstrate a keen attention to detail.
  • Expertise in social media management, digital marketing, and content creation strategies
  • Experience with Flipbook, Photo shop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign
  • Must be available for Tribal events, meetings, and gatherings when requested to attend.
  • Research is required as well as fact-checking
  • Must be a team player who can also work independently to produce high volume and meet deadlines.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and ability to handle sensitive and controversial issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Tribal members, leadership, staff, and external organizations.
