Job summary

The Creative Content Manager at Coquille Indian Tribe will craft and oversee a cohesive creative strategy that strengthens the Tribe’s brand identity and mission. You will lead creation of media for tribal communications, oversee digital content across platforms, and ensure consistency in visuals and messaging across channels.

You’ll collaborate with the Communications Director and other departments to plan campaigns, manage projects on time and within budget, and provide photography/videography

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or related field and five years’ experience in creative content development or brand management required.
  • Experience with CMS/WordPress and analytics required.
  • Strong understanding of branding, design principles, and multi-channel campaigns.

Job description

This position is a covered position as defined in the Coquille Indian Tribe Chapter 185 Child Protection Ordinance. Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen and Criminal and Character Background Check.SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONSUnder the direct supervision of the Communications Director, the Creative Content Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a cohesive creative strategy that aligns with and enhances the Tribe's brand identity. This role is central to promoting the Tribe’s mission, culture, and initiatives through compelling visual and written content. The Creative Content Manager will lead the creation of a variety of media to facilitate communication with tribal members, tribal families, employees, and occasionally the general public.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn collaboration with the Communications Director, develop and implement a consistent creative direction for all communications, ensuring alignment with the Tribe’s values, identity, and priorities.Maintain and evolve brand guidelines, ensuring cohesive visual and messaging standards across platforms.Oversee the creation of all effective and engaging content, ensuring consistency with the Tribe’s brand identity.Drives innovation in creative processes and content development.Manages multiple creative projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.In collaboration with the Communications Specialist, develop, monitor, and manage web content across all digital platforms, ensuring information is current, accurate, accessible, and functional. Provide technical support and troubleshooting as needed.Track, analyze, and report on web and digital performance metrics; leverage data and insights to optimize content, inform strategy, and enhance the user experience.Design engaging graphic content for digital and print media including brochures, newsletters, social media, email campaigns, website graphics, and event collateral. Assist the Communications Director in planning and executing comprehensive communications strategies and campaigns.Collaborate with other departments across the organization to understand communication needs and develop creative materials that support program goals.Administer, manage, and moderate all CIT social media accounts, including creating, scheduling, and publishing content to ensure accounts are conforming to the organizational expectations and the platform’s unique best practices.Provide photography and videography services for Tribal events, programs, projects, and other communications needs.Conduct interviews as necessary for printed newsletter, in coordination with the Tribe’s newsletter editor.Recognize the necessity of maintaining proprietary and confidential information in all communications, while maintaining the assumption that all communications will be considered “on the record.”Other duties as assigned.The above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSRequires the ability to communicate orally, repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and sitting for extended periods of time. Work involves occasional exposure to excessive noise.Work is generally performed in an office setting with occasional work outdoors. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Will often be required to travel by automobile, commercial, or private carrier. This position requires frequent local travel, with occasional statewide and national travel. Travel may be required up to 25% of the time. The individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position safely, efficiently, and accurately. Work accuracy is essential. Works independently, shows initiative and takes ownership of all projects and assignments to achieve positive results.Excellent communication skills, including proficiency with common U.S. publication styles and copywriting styles as they pertain to each platform.Excellent computer literacy, including proficient working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, WordPress, and Elementor (Experience with Content Management Systems, HTML, CSS, and Photoshop)Proficiency with Facebook and Instagram business suites and best practices (other social media is a plus.)Proficiency with Canon camera and related gearVideo editing with Adobe PremiereAble to ensure good public relations by maintaining a cooperative and considerate attitude toward others.Ability to maintain confidentiality; a breach of confidentiality is grounds for immediate dismissal.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work cooperatively with other departments to accomplish assigned tasks; ability to develop good working relationships with other departments in the organization.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or related field and five years’ experience in creative content development or brand management required. A combination of education and work experience will be considered.Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress), social media platforms, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) required.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.Deep understanding and appreciation for Native American culture and tribal governance or related experience.Demonstrated experience in website design, website management and web graphic design required.Strong understanding of design principles, branding, and marketing strategies.Strong working knowledge of relevant software (including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite) and working experience with various social media platforms required.Current and valid driver’s license in good standing is required, with no insurability issues as determined by the tribe’s insurance carrier.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation, professional experience, or specialized training related to artificial intelligence (AI), with demonstrated knowledge of how AI tools can be used responsibly to support strategic communications, content development, audience engagement, and organizational effectiveness.Experience working within Tribal, federal, state, or local government communication structures, including stakeholder engagement, public information dissemination, and intergovernmental coordination.
