Job summary

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is seeking an Educator to design and deliver audience-driven educational and interpretive programs aligned with the aquarium’s mission. The Educator conducts scripted programs and engages visitors through live animals, props, and technology at the main site and in community locations.

This role requires collaboration with other departments, support for interns and volunteers, weekend/evening work, and the ability to speak clearly to groups.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and two years of museum or related work.
  • Experience presenting live animals to diverse audiences.
  • Experience developing/evaluating public programs and events.
  • Ability to transport program materials to/from worksite.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate educational/interpretive programs using live animals, props, biofacts, and technology.
  • Evaluate programs for alignment with standards and learning outcomes.
  • Support Education interns, seasonal staff, and volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinate with Education and other departments on logistics and promotions.
  • Provide internal/external communication and customer service.
