Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) is seeking a Public Programs Educator for part-time, nonexempt work in the Public Programs department at its Upper West Side location. The role focuses on leading drop-in programs that blend art, science, literacy, and culture for Birth-8 children with caregiver support.

Ideal candidates have experience with young children and families in educational settings, excellent communication and teamwork, and an ability to engage diverse visitors in a welcoming

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children (0-6) and families in museums or schools.
  • Enthusiasm for learning arts education and STEM in early childhood.
  • Ability to engage diverse families with warmth and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead drop-in public programs including art, storytelling, music, and movement.
  • Assist in preparing materials and maintaining exhibition spaces.
  • Welcome families, guide activities, and provide program information.
  • Collaborate with staff to disinfect and reset program areas.
  • Support weekend and holiday programming as needed.
