Job summary

East Cleveland City School District's Prospect Academy seeks a Public Pre-School Teacher to plan engaging activities, support early learning, and foster inclusive classrooms in Ohio. The role focuses on developmentally appropriate instruction, family communication, and collaboration with specialists to support student success.

Responsibilities include delivering standards-based lessons, differentiating instruction, and maintaining records while participating in district initiatives and IEP/ETR

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Childhood Education required.
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet licensing requirements.
  • Familiarity with Ohio's Step Up To Quality standards.
  • Two years of preschool teaching experience.
  • Meet licensing and employment requirements by ODEW and DCY.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, students and families.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons aligned to Ohio standards.
  • Create a safe, welcoming classroom environment that promotes exploration and learning.
  • Foster early literacy, math, language, science, SEL, and motor skills.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about progress and activities.
  • Collaborate with intervention staff, therapists, and administrators to boost achievement.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, ETRs, and planning as appropriate.
  • Support positive behavior strategies and active supervision.
  • Attend PD, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
  • Comply with ODEW, DCY, and district requirements.

General Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and implement the educational activities of pre-school children.

Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education.Previous preschool teaching experience.Valid Kindergarten Primary Certificate.

Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned to Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards.Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes exploration, creativity, and student success.Foster the development of early literacy, mathematics, language, science, social-emotional learning, and motor skills.Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of all learners.Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth and guide instructional decisions.Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and required documentation.Communicate regularly with parents and families regarding student progress and classroom activities.Collaborate with intervention specialists, therapists, support staff, and administrators to support student achievement.Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and intervention planning as appropriate.Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies that promote student engagement.Supervise students during classroom activities, meals, recess, transitions, and field trips.Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district initiatives.Maintain compliance with all requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW), the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY), and the district.Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

Preschool classroom setting.Frequent interaction with young children, families, and staff.Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and participate in activities that require standing, bending, kneeling, and active supervision.Possess the physical and mental attributes required to perform all essential functions.
