Job summary

East Cleveland City Schools Prospect Academy in Cleveland, Ohio invites applications for a Public Preschool Teacher. The role reports to the Principal and focuses on planning and delivering developmentally appropriate preschool instruction aligned to Ohio standards.

Responsibilities include creating an inclusive classroom, fostering early literacy and numeracy, differentiating instruction, maintaining records, and parent communication.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Childhood Education.
• Passing of a background check (BCI and FBI).
• Familiarity with Ohio's Step Up To Quality standards.
• Two years of preschool teaching experience.
• Ability to meet all licensing and employment requirements established by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned to Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes exploration, creativity, and student success.
• Foster the development of early literacy, mathematics, language, science, social-emotional learning, and motor skills.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of all learners.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth and guide instructional decisions.
• Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and required documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents and families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with intervention specialists, therapists, support staff, and administrators to support student achievement.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and intervention planning as appropriate.
• Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies that promote student engagement.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, meals, recess, transitions, and field trips.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with all requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW), the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY), and the district.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
