Job summary

Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (LP Building Solutions) is seeking a Remote Public Policy professional to implement and manage programs and procedures across U.S. and Canadian operations.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to monitor legislation, prepare leadership briefs, and represent LP at external meetings. You should have 5 years of policy experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with multiple LP departments in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5 years of public policy, regulatory affairs, or building code analysis.
• Knowledge of federal, state, provincial and local policy adoption processes.
• Experience with legislative tracking, policy research, and advocacy campaigns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with Corporate Communications, Sales, and other LP staff.

Responsibilities

• Support Director to achieve LP’s public policy objectives.
• Collaborate with LP Sales, Operations, EHS, and Legal to analyze proposed federal, state and provincial policies and regulatory frameworks.
• Utilize lobbying teams, legislative software, and partner associations to monitor proposals and alert the organization.
• Monitor federal and regional draft legislation and assess impact to LP; escalate as needed.
• Represent LP at external public policy meetings, stakeholder engagements, and industry forums.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior leadership and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain essential records related to policy analysis and advocacy activities.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

In This Position You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Work closely with and support Director, Sustainability & Public Policy to achieve LP’s public policy objectives.
• Collaborate with LP sales, operations, EHS, and legal compliance teams to analyze proposed federal, state and provincial policies and regulatory frameworks to identify impacts on housing market, fiber supply, operations, and compliance.
• Utilize lobbying teams, legislative software, and partner associations to proactively monitor and alert the organization to emerging legislative and regulatory proposals. Provide clear, actionable directives to external consultants regarding LP’s priority issues, ensuring they are equipped to notify the organization promptly if new concerns arise.
• Monitor federal and regional draft legislation and assess impact to LP. Connect with LP Subject Matter Experts and escalate as needed throughout the organization.
• Represent LP at external public policy meetings, stakeholder engagements, and industry forums.
• Prepare clear, accurate, and informative reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior leadership and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain essential records, reports, and files related to policy analysis and advocacy activities.
• Complies with all policies and standards

What do I need to be successful?

• 5 years of public policy, regulatory affairs, or building code analysis, preferably with exposure to state and local government processes
• Demonstrated knowledge of public policy and regulatory adoption processes at federal, state, provincial, and local levels.
• Experience with legislative tracking, policy research, and advocacy campaigns.
• Ability to operate a computer and supporting software.
• Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills is essential.
• Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of LP staff, including Corporate Communications, Sales and Marketing, Segment Business Partners
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in public policy, public administration, political science, economics, or related field highly preferred preferred

Work Environment

• This position will be remote, working in a home office environment
• Travel: up to 20% of time depending on need
