Job summary

Google Inc. in Washington D.C. is seeking a Mid-level Public Policy Manager for the Search team. You will lead policy analysis and external engagement, coordinating with product, engineering, legal, and safety teams to shape policy guidance for core Search products.

The role focuses on balancing innovation with regulatory considerations across health, finance, and personalization, while navigating a highly matrixed organization and global policy landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience in policy analysis and campaigns, working on technology issues or the policy environments that surround them.
• 7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.
• Experience with regulatory issues related to data privacy, content moderation, or consumer protection.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute proactive strategies to manage political risks and address government relations problems. Engage with stakeholders and allied organizations in policy campaigns.
• Monitor global legislative and emerging policy developments impacting Search (e.g., Generative AI, personalization, health, finance) to understand business and user impacts.
• Translate policy strategies into execution plans. Act as the team contact for Search engineering, collaborating with Legal, Marketing, PR, and Trust and Safety to launch policy-friendly products.
• Draft policy briefs develop narratives explaining Search's value, emphasizing how it serves users in sensitive sectors while respecting privacy.
