Job summary

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is seeking a part-time Intern in our Public Law & Policy practice for Spring 2027 in Washington, DC. The intern will report to assigned attorneys and practice management and gain exposure to diverse policy issues and client meetings. The position requires a part-time schedule of 9:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, two years of college preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the legislative process preferred.
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office including Word/Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Ability to work proactively and demonstrate initiative.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize under time pressure.
• Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with peers and superiors.
• Good judgment, integrity and loyalty; maintain confidentiality.
• Able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic research and package findings.
• Attend and summarize congressional hearings.
• Assist with policy events and client meetings in the Hill office space.
• Provide administrative support to senior lobbyists.
• Attend Hill meetings with various stakeholders.
