CAROLINA LEGAL ASSOCIATES is seeking a Full-Time Attorney in Beaufort, SC to advocate for adult survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. You will be the sole attorney for the organization, handling civil litigation, advocacy, and community education across a four-county region.

The role requires a J.D. and SC license, with a focus on family law and victim advocacy. Travel is required and agency vehicles are provided for work-related trips.

You will be the only attorney for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The Staff Attorney will provide holistic civil legal representation and community-wide empowerment for adult survivors. Core responsibilities include:

• Civil Litigation & Advocacy: Primary management of adult family law cases, including divorces, protective orders and more.
• Focused Caseload: Because the organization utilizes separate, specialized services for children, this position does not handle Department of Social Services (DSS) litigation or child welfare cases.
• Community Education: Deliver impactful, law-related training and information regarding domestic violence and sexual assault to local law enforcement, regional attorneys, and court personnel.
• Regional Collaboration: Travel to serve clients across a four-county region. Agency vehicles are fully provided for all work-related travel to eliminate wear and tear on your personal vehicle.

Location and Travel Requirements

• Base Office: Beaufort, South Carolina but this could be negotiable
• Travel Counties: Regular regional travel includes Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper counties (using official agency vehicles).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and an active, good-standing license to practice law in South Carolina.
• Demonstrated experience or a strong, authentic interest in family law, victim advocacy, or public interest law. - although for the right candidate, would consider an entry level attorney.
• A valid Driver's License (required to utilize agency-provided vehicles).
