Job summary

The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia seeks highly qualified auditors to join the Fraud, Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section. You will conduct audit and financial investigations, reconstruct records, and interview business associates to gather evidence.

This position requires a degree in accounting and at least four years of accounting experience; CPA or CIA credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting or related field with 24 semester hours in accounting.
  • At least 4 years of accounting experience or equivalent combination.
  • One of: 24 accounting hours; CPA/CIA; or degree with substantial accounting coursework and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting audit and financial investigations involving high-profile entities.
  • Reconstructing records for investigations and leading financial fraud investigations.
  • Obtaining detailed financial information via interviews with business associates, firm employees, and competitors.
  • Preparing concise audit reports with detailed charts and schedules.
  • Discussing cases with supervisor and recommending further actions such as closing or continuing investigations.
  • Conducting conferences with financial institutions, law enforcement, CPAs, and attorneys.
