Job summary

The Town of Collierville is hiring a Public Information Officer to join our Administration team. You will develop and manage strategic communication initiatives, create public information materials, and coordinate communication across departments.

You will serve as a key liaison between the Mayor, Board of Aldermen, departments, the public, media, and community partners, including school programs. Some meetings outside regular hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration or a closely related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in Communications or a closely related field.
• Proficiency with social media applications and a variety of software and graphic design programs.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic communication initiatives that strengthen communication between the Town and the community, employees, media, and other stakeholders.
• Create and distribute public information, promotional materials, press releases, newsletters, flyers, surveys, and digital content.
• Coordinate communication efforts across departments and maintain the Town's website.
• Serve as a liaison between the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, Town departments, the public, news media, and community partners.
• Review content, conduct interviews, attend meetings and community events, and organize public groups to support effective communication.
• Coordinate publications and production schedules; prepare reports and correspondence; maintain official documentation; respond to public inquiries.
• Operate digital, audio-visual, and office equipment; stay current on laws, regulations, and industry trends.
• Attend Board of Mayor and Aldermen meetings and events outside regular hours as needed.
