Job summary

Arizona Department of Gaming is seeking a Communication Manager/PIO to lead the agency's Communications Unit and serve as the primary Public Information Officer. You will develop strategic communications, manage media relations, and oversee internal/external messaging across platforms.

The role reports to the Assistant Director of Government and Community Affairs and supervises the Marketing Strategist and Communication Intern. Remote work options may be available within Arizona.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, public administration, or a related field is required.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
• Two years of supervisory or lead-level experience.
• Valid state driver’s license required for State business.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Communications Unit and align internal/external messaging.
• Serve as Public Information Officer and primary media liaison; handle records requests.
• Manage digital communications, brand alignment, and social media presence.
• Coordinate internal communications and employee engagement programs.
• Support tribal government engagement and stakeholder education initiatives.
• Track communications performance and report results to executive leadership.
