Job summary

The Comptroller at Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer in managing the Authority's financial operations, including accounting systems, financial reporting, budgeting, and HUD compliance. This position supervises finance staff and emphasizes accuracy and internal controls.

Responsibilities include maintaining general ledger controls, monthly close, HUD data submissions, audits, payroll processing, and tax reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of accounting experience.
• Public housing or governmental accounting experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accounting controls over general ledger, journals, and financial records.
• Oversees monthly closing processes and reconciliation of accounts.
• Prepares financial statements, board reports, and HUD-required reports.
• Assists with year-end audits and prepares audit documentation.
• Oversees payroll processing and tax reporting (e.g., 1099s).
• Assists the CFO in financial planning and strategic initiatives.
