Job summary

Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in the Division of Public Health. The successful candidate will lead teaching in Public Health, supervise student projects, and contribute to research and service activities within PVAMU.

The position emphasizes leadership in field education, program development, accreditation activities, and interdisciplinary collaboration with a growing health sciences team.

Qualifications

• Evidence of effective teaching at the college/university level.
• Demonstrated scholarly potential with peer‑reviewed publications or a clear research agenda.
• Experience mentoring, advising, or supervising students.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Public Health and related disciplines.
• Develop new courses and instructional materials aligned with program needs.
• Utilize innovative teaching strategies, including technology‑enhanced and online learning.
• Supervise student projects, internships, and independent studies.
• Establish and maintain an active research agenda leading to peer‑reviewed publications.
• Pursue internal and external grants/funding opportunities to support scholarly activities.
• Engage in collaborative research within the School of Public and Allied Health and across disciplines.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in academic planning, research, and professional development.
• Support students in experiential learning, including research, community engagement, and study abroad opportunities.
• Participate in program assessment, accreditation activities, and curriculum development.
• Serve on division, school, and university committees.
• Engage in professional service through memberships, conference presentations, and editorial/reviewer roles.
• Contribute to community outreach and partnerships that promote health parity and allied health initiatives.
