The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a Special Officer to support the Health Police Unit in maintaining security and order across NYC facilities. The role involves responding to emergencies, patrolling facilities, and documenting incidents while working a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.

Candidates must be designated Peace Officers by NYS CPL and meet state training requirements; residency and union provisions may apply.

Competenze

A four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization; and
Individuals designated as Peace Officers by the NYS Criminal Procedure Law must meet training requirements and obtain certification, maintained for the duration of employment.

Mansioni

Respond to emergency incidents.
Maintain heightened security at key locations and secure DOHMH facilities across the five boroughs.
Patrol unstaffed locations.
Complete complaint and incident reports.
Conduct interior and exterior patrols of DOHMH facilities.
Perform tasks outdoors in all weather, assist in carrying an injured adult, and manage interactions to prevent escapes.
Wear heavy equipment and bullet resistant vest as required.
Work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays; rotate tours or overtime as per the bargaining agreement.
