Job summary

The State of Hawaiʻi is seeking a working supervisor for the Public Health Nursing Office to coordinate daily operations, plan infection prevention protocols, run immunization clinics, and educate staff. The role includes auditing facilities and implementing chronic disease screening and the 340B program, with flexible hours as needed.

Qualified nurses with Hawaii RN license, 2.5 years in public health nursing, CPR, and preferred CIC or APIC training are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Valid Hawaii RN license at application time.
  • 2.5 years of public health nursing experience; 1 year at Public Health Nurse IV level equivalent.
  • CPR certification available at time of application and attached.
  • PREA, substitution rules, and related requirements apply as described.
  • CIC certification preferred; APIC training or equivalent desired.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily management and supervision of the Public Health Nursing Office.
  • Plan and provide infection prevention and control protocols and immunization clinics.
  • Educate department staff and implement auditing of DCR facilities including Mainland Branch.
  • Oversee chronic disease screening/testing and treatment; manage the 340B program.
  • Work flexible hours, weekends and holidays to accommodate detainee schedules.
