Job summary

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Finance Division. The role supports forecasting, data gathering, and reporting to help manage budgets, expenditures, and revenue targets for NYC's largest local health department.

You will work with cross-functional teams to compile and analyze data, prepare documentation, and contribute to the annual close processes.

Qualifications

• Requires gathering, organizing and analyzing data and report writing experience.
• Experience researching and interpreting laws, regulations and guidelines.
• Ability to reconcile and document financial data and prepare clear reports.
• Familiarity with public health or government budgeting processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track Mental Hygiene state aid expenditures.
• Prepare and submit Article 6 claim submissions to state.
• Conduct research on Public Health Law, regulation, and guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal teams on contract, budget, and payment data.
• Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets are met.
• Maintain accurate revenue and expenditure reports and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and City policies.
• Develop reports and documents for agency use.
• Assist in year-end close activities and revenue accrual estimation.
