Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Public Health Program Specialist is responsible for developing, Implementing, and coordinatinghealth-related services for pregnant and postpartum women and theirfamilies, within a comprehensive model of preventative care. All employees are expected to performtheir duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The person doing this job isresponsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most costeffective manner.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Demonstrated skill in providing community health services,including through home visits,within low-income communities to families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Skill in teaching and mentoring professionals fromvarious disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the health care system and community health care resources. Knowledge of community health theories and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute projects in an independent and responsive manner.
  • Skill in organizing and maintaining a comprehensive record-keeping system.
  • Ability to speak clearly,concisely, and in an organized manner, along with the skill in writing clearly to articulate concepts and ideas in a logical fashion.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills
  • CPR/BLS;Fire Safety Cert; Valid CA driver's license and ability to make home visits to various Los Angeles locations.
Preferred
  • One year of community health nursing, with prenatal, postpartum or health education background preferred, with the ability to effectively plan and conduct health education services.
  • Experience with staff supervision and program development.
