Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Polk County is seeking a Nutrition Educator to provide professional nutrition education and breastfeeding counseling to clients across sites within the Polk/Hardee WIC area. You will complete histories, develop education plans, certify eligibility, and conduct group sessions in accordance with WIC policies.

This role requires collaboration with the Public Health Nutritionist and clinic staff in Lakeland, FL.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food and nutrition science across the life cycle.
• Ability to provide nutrition education in group or individual settings.
• Ability to develop and evaluate nutrition education plans.
• Ability to coordinate work and maintain effective relationships.
• Must meet Florida WIC program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete medical and nutrition histories for WIC clients.
• Develop, monitor, and revise nutrition education plans for high/low risk clients.
• Certify eligible clients for WIC participation by determining nutrition risk.
• Assign/update client food prescriptions per program regulations.
• Provide classes and group nutrition education per lesson plans.
