Position Summary

Immunization Program Manager – Department of Health, classified position 5192. Salary Grade 17, Hiring Range $87,110–$104,561 annually, full range $87,110–$121,992. Grant‑funded position ending June 2027; first review of applications on 07/10/2026. This role leads public health initiatives, oversees a dedicated team, and drives vaccination coverage across Pima County.

Essential Functions
  • Analyze program needs and allocate personnel resources for maximum effectiveness.
  • Conduct quality improvement analysis and collaborate with other nurse managers to ensure continuity between facilities.
  • Provide general nursing care, including immunizations, in hospitals, clinics, homes, and field locations, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Develop and implement public health nursing programs in collaboration with Deputy Division Managers, aligned with the department’s strategic plan.
  • Collect data, compile statistical information, and prepare records and reports for program planning and evaluation, and for health surveys and studies.
  • Review risk management issues affecting patient care and collaborate with division leaders on mitigation measures.
  • Conduct performance management reviews for staff.
  • Create, review, and revise clinic policies and procedures per division policy.
  • Serve as lead in incident command and participate in emergency preparedness planning and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, business, public administration, or related field; two years of clinical supervisory experience with financial responsibility, compliance, accreditation, and risk analysis; current Registered Nurse license in Arizona.
  • Associate’s degree in nursing; four years of clinical supervisory experience with financial responsibility, compliance, accreditation, and risk analysis; current Registered Nurse license in Arizona.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years experience managing federal or state grants.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with immunizations.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with community-based work, communicable disease, or public health.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with underserved or minority populations.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Arizona driver license required at appointment; 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review required.
  • Current state Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination required.
  • Post‑job offer physical and/or drug screen; proof of immunization(s) and TB screening required.
  • May require Arizona Department of Public Safety Clearance Card for working with vulnerable adults and children.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Frequent computer and office equipment use; close‑range observation.
  • Frequent office and clinic movement, including external community events, mobile sites, and home visits.
  • Ability to sit on floor, crouch, kneel, reach, and stoop; grasping motions.
  • Hearing in noisy areas with radio or equipment alarms.
  • Vision to operate motor vehicles and distinguish colors, depth perception, peripheral vision.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 20 pounds.
