Job summary

Macomb County Government is hiring a Public Health Nurse in the Health Department located in Clinton Township. The position provides direct nursing services in a clinical, geographic or programmatic area under direction.

Salary ranges from $66,559.45 to $86,089.08 annually. The county offers medical, dental and vision coverage with no monthly premium for employees and family plans, effective the first day of employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse, or in the process of securing Michigan licensure.
• Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience.
• Previous public health or community health nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care in an assigned area, using appropriate authorized nursing skills.
• Teaches, consults and acts as public health resource person to individuals, families, community groups and other health care professionals.
• Documents appropriate data, activities and outcomes in the client records, utilizing the required recording format.
• Works with clients to assess their needs, provide information or assistance and resolve problems.
• Assists in coordinating the activities of an assigned clinic and/or program area.
• Participates on selected agency committees as directed.
• Participates in the orientation of staff.
• Generates, evaluates and chooses the best alternative in order to make a determination, draw conclusions or solve a problem.

EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP

Just cause subject to a probationary period

CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME

Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is 8:30 a.m.

General Summary

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
• Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse, or be in the process of securing Michigan licensure
• Minimum of one (1) year of professional nursing experience

Preferred Education And Experience

• Previous public health or community health nursing experience is preferred
