Job summary

Butte County is seeking a Public Health Microbiology Trainee in Oroville to gain hands-on laboratory experience toward certification. Under supervision, you will perform basic microbiological examinations and learn to work with clinical specimens, food and water analyses, travel to State trainings at the employees' expense.

This Extra Help position is part-time or non-permanent; no experience required, but must meet education requirements and training must be completed within the PHM Training

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology or related life science field is required.
• Possession of Public Health Microbiologist Trainee letter from California CDPH is required.
• Training must be completed within the PHM Training schedule.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform routine microbiological and related analyses under supervision.
• Assist with specimen processing for examination and reporting.
• Contribute to quality control and record-keeping to ensure accuracy of results.
• Travel to State trainings at the employee's expense and participate in practical training under supervision.
