Job summary

The City of Methuen is seeking a Health Inspector to join the Environmental Health Division in a full-time capacity. This AFSCME B position requires knowledge of state and federal health regulations and strong inspection skills.

Qualifications include a Bachelor or graduate degree in engineering, public health, occupational health, or environmental health; bilingual ability is preferred. Salary ranges from $70,714.42 to $79,508.46 annually.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HACCP principles and application.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
• Basic understanding of microbiology, as required for performing inspectional duties and reading technical reports.
• Ability to use computer-based permitting and inspection software, as required.
• Considerable knowledge of all relevant state and federal statutes including city bylaws, regulations, and ordinances.

Responsibilities

• Inspecten health-related facilities to ensure compliance with state and local codes.
• Review inspection reports and permitting documents; enforce health regulations.

Education

Bachelor and/or graduate degree in engineering, public health, occupational health, or environmental health desirable.
