Job summary

Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a Senior Public Service Admin to lead the Informatics Division. Lead strategic data and analytics initiatives, oversee design and implementation of informatics solutions, and supervise staff and budgets.

The role coordinates with agencies and external partners to ensure secure, interoperable data exchange and robust governance. The position requires four years of college and four years of progressive administrative experience in health informatics,

Qualifications

• Requires completion of four years of college.
• Four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in public health informatics, health data systems, or enterprise data environments.
• Three years leading or managing technical teams or large-scale informatics projects.
• Three years of enterprise analytics, visualization, or AI/ML initiatives in public sector or healthcare.
• Working knowledge of health data standards and interoperability (HL7, FHIR, APIs).
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical leadership and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for enterprise data and analytics capabilities.
• Oversee planning, design, and implementation of informatics solutions related to surveillance systems, cloud platforms, database and data-lake architecture, data standards, and integration with internal and external systems.
• Manage the division's grant programs and budget, including staff supervision and performance management.
• Serve as the division's full line supervisor.
