Job summary

City of New York’s Office of General Counsel seeks an Agency Attorney to join the Enforcement Unit of the NYC Health Department. You will handle administrative litigation, prosecute regulatory matters, and advise programs on compliance and enforcement procedures, contributing to public health protections for millions of New Yorkers.

Responsibilities include hearings before OATH, drafting briefs, orders and motions, coordinating with other agencies, and traveling to courts within NYC.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the New York State Bar.
• Experience in administrative or regulatory law preferred.
• Ability to design case strategy and manage multiple cases.

Responsibilities

• Represent the agency at hearings, conferences and trials before OATH.
• Research and prepare briefs, orders, motions, and legal opinions.
• Receive and assess complaints to determine enforcement action.
• Collaborate with department programs and other agencies to strengthen enforcement.
• Maintain confidential information and meet deadlines.
