Job summary

The Personnel Board of Jefferson County Alabama is seeking a qualified Clinical Dentist to diagnose and treat patients and supervise staff within the Health Department.

You will perform patient assessments, conduct exams, radiographs, and a range of procedures, while mentoring dental staff and coordinating education for students and colleagues; adherence to professional standards is essential. Alabama licensure is required with board exam completion as applicable.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice dentistry in Alabama or successful completion of a regional board exam; evidence prior to contingency hire.
• Evidence of satisfactory completion of board exam prior to contingency hire; license required before start date.
• Experience recording clinical information in electronic dental records systems.
• Experience with pediatric and adult patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing tasks, and training.
• Coordinates dental education for students; documents performance and oversees progress.
• Performs patient assessments by reviewing records to propose treatment plans.
• Performs dental procedures following established professional standards and guidelines.
• Provides service to internal and external customers.
• Manages inventory and supplies to meet department needs.
• Maintains sanitation and safety of patient areas and equipment.
• Handles administrative tasks and maintains patient records.
• Engages in ongoing professional development and knowledge of best practices.
