Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is seeking a full-time Community Liaison to connect residents with city services and housing programs. You will work with schools, agencies and providers to obtain participation and support for community initiatives in a teaching hospital setting.

The role involves outreach, interviewing residents, preparing materials, supervising staff, and supporting program implementation across municipal and health service partners.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in counseling, community work or community health activities in a government agency or community organization engaged in providing community services to the public, assisting members of the community in obtaining community services or maintaining liaison with schools, community organizations or other government agencies for the purpose of providing assistance and obtaining participation and support for implementation of community or public service programs.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the first item; completion of a six-month training program in community liaison work may substitute for six months of experience; college study in sociology, psychology or related behavioral science may substitute for credits, but at least one year of full-time experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs liaison activities between City agencies and community residents and groups to provide assistance and implement public service programs; supervises staff.
• Directs staff or coordinates field office operations and communicates with residents, landlords, agencies, schools, unions and other organizations.
• Explains programs and policies to community groups and interprets information from the community to agencies.
• Participates in planning and implementing programs with community participation; collects and reports information on community needs and objectives.
