Job summary

Southwest Health and Human Services in Marshall, MN, is seeking a Communications Specialist to develop and execute communications plans for Public Health programs, promote services, and maintain the Public Health webpage, with focus on outreach and coalition partnerships.

Responsibilities include creating informational pieces, evaluating campaigns, assisting with public information during emergencies, and building relationships with community partners; requires a bachelor's in health

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in health communications, Public Health, strategic communications, or related field.
• Professional experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Canva and website content management systems.
• Two years of work experience in strategic communications planning, writing, and publishing for various print and electronic communications in Public Health and/or chronic disease preferred but not required.
• Possession of a valid driver's license or alternative ability to travel to off-site meetings, trainings and events in a timely manner.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to write professional informational and promotional documents.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and market the Public Health division’s programs, services and initiatives by developing, executing and evaluating communication plans and strategies.
• Provide communication support to each Public Health program area; create informational and promotional pieces that highlight Public Health work.
• Build and strengthen relationships with community partners and coalition members to advance prevention initiatives and improve community health outcomes.
• Maintain the Public Health webpage; develop, execute and evaluate communication plans and media campaigns.
• Provide assistance with public information and communications in case of a Public Health emergency or outbreak.
