Job summary

AMDEX Corporation is seeking a Public Health Business Analyst to translate public health needs into clear requirements and artifacts. You will bridge stakeholders and delivery teams, shaping data interoperability and governance for surveillance projects.

Responsibilities include documenting requirements, mapping data flows, and supporting testing while communicating complex topics to nontechnical audiences. This is a remote, full-time opportunity with federal health domain exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2+ years as a Business Analyst in technical projects.
• Experience with public health surveillance workflows.
• Ability to translate requirements for nontechnical audiences.

Public Health Business Analyst

Role Summary

The Public Health Business Analyst supports public health data and interoperability initiatives by translating client needs and workflows into clear business and technical requirements. This role acts as a connector between public health stakeholders and delivery implementation teams, contributing analysis, documentation, and validation activities to enable solutions that align with public health standards, data governance expectations, and operational realities.

Key Responsibilities

• Elicit, document, and manage business and technical requirements through interviews, workshops, and reviews with public health stakeholders and SMEs.
• Develop requirement artifacts such as business requirements, user stories, process maps, data flow diagrams, and acceptance criteria.
• Support analysis of system integrations and data flows across public health programs, laboratories, registries, and external partners.
• Collaborate with technical teams to help translate requirements into solution designs, backlog items, and implementation plans.
• Contribute to test planning, test scenarios, and user acceptance testing activities in coordination with SMEs and technical staff.
• Assist with documentation development, including SOPs, data dictionaries, user guides, and meeting summaries.
• Support consideration of data quality, timeliness, reporting requirements, and reuse across public health use cases.
• Communicate complex technical topics in clear, accessible language for non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• At least 2 years previous experience serving as a Business Analyst in technical-centric projects.
• Fluent in public health surveillance, epidemiology workflows, and STLT public health operations.
• Ability to analyze and document end-to-end workflows, system integrations, and data flows supporting surveillance and reporting use cases.
• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to nontechnical public.
• Collaborative mindset for working across technical delivery teams and public health stakeholders.
• Clear written and verbal communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Core Competencies

• Working knowledge of public health data exchange and interoperability across PHAs, laboratories, registries, healthcare partners, and federal systems.
• Working knowledge of public health standards and artifacts (e.g., HL7 v2, CDA, FHIR).
• Working knowledge of Generative AI and agentic research versus other methods of automation.
