Job summary

San Bernardino County's Department of Public Health, Clinic Operations, seeks an Assistant Clinic Unit Manager to work with the Clinic Unit Manager in supervising staff at FQHCs and Public Health Clinics in the Hesperia, Ontario, and San Bernardino Health Centers.

The role requires California RN licensure with BLS, 2+ years in outpatient primary care, and leadership experience; a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Current California RN license with valid licensure.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years as an RN in outpatient primary care or clinic setting.
• Three+ years in Charge Nurse or Lead role preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Medical Assistants.
• Ensure smooth workflow for patient service delivery and set priorities.
• Assist with performance improvement goals and quality management activities.
• Lead orientation programs, in-services, and education for clinical staff.
• Assist with evaluations, hiring, and payroll time/attendance processing.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care assignments by staff competencies.

Job description

Department of Public Health (DPH), Clinic Operations is now hiring for Assistant Clinic Unit Manager. This position will work closely with the Clinic Unit Manager by assisting with the supervision of staff at assigned Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Public Health Clinics. This recruitment will be used to fill vacancies at the Hesperia, Ontario, and San Bernardino Health Centers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Supervise and direct the work of Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Medical Assistants assigned to the Clinics.
• Ensures smooth workflow for patient service delivery; establish work, priorities, deadlines, and performance standards for clinical support staff.
• Under direction of the Clinic Unit Manger assists with the development of goals and objectives for performance improvement and quality management activities.
• Assist in leading the development and implementation of orientation programs, in-services, and education programs for clinical support staff in collaboration with Nurse Educators.
• Assist with work performance evaluations; disciplinary actions and hiring.
• Prepares schedules and oversees with payroll time and attendance processing which includes approving time off.
• Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care by assuring assignments are made on the basis of knowledge, skills and competency level with consideration for the needs of each patient.
• Assist in the development and implementation of continuous patient experience improvement efforts.
• Perform professional nursing duties as needed.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Certification: Must possess and maintain a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience: Two (2) years as an Registered Nurse in an outpatient primary care, ambulatory or clinic setting.

The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of Charge Nurse or Lead experience in outpatient primary care, ambulatory or clinic setting. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management or related field is highly desired.
