NEVHC in California is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor to oversee and coordinate high-quality nursing support services in a Federally Qualified Health Center serving low-income families in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys.

The RN Supervisor works with physicians, mid-level clinicians, and administrators in daily clinic operations; reports to the Clinic Administrator and Director of Nursing Services.

Qualifications

  • Must graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a CA RN license.
  • Five years clinical RN experience with at least one year in the assigned clinical area; ambulatory/public health experience preferred.
  • CPR certification current and compliant with American Heart Association.
  • Willing to work a varied and flexible schedule; must supervise 1–50 employees.

Registered Nurse Supervisor

Salary Range: $115,455.00 To $151,906.00 Annually

The Registered Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and coordination of high quality nursing support services in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving low-income families in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys. The Registered Nursing (RN) Supervisor is a core member of the healthcare team working in collaboration with physicians, mid-level clinicians, administrators and others in the day to day operations of a community health clinic.

Reports to: Clinic Administrator (Administrative)

Director of Nursing Services or Assigned LIP ( Clinical)

Qualifications:
  • 1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid and current California Registered Nurse license to practice.
  • 2. Five years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of one year of experience in the clinical area assigned preferred. Experiences must have been as a Registered Nurse within a United States Licensing Jurisdiction. Previous supervisory, managerial or lead clinical responsibility/ experience in ambulatory care, public health or outpatient clinic highly desirable. Must complete NEVHC managerial training program within 6-9 months of hire.
  • 3. Must demonstrate through written and/or oral testing, the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He or she is able to identify and categorize each patient’s age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients.
  • 4. Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, in compliance with American Health Association.
  • 5. Must be willing and able to work a varied and flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of NEVHC and its patients.
  • 6. Must maintain or exceed competency levels as established by corporate standards for clinical practice.
  • 7. A working knowledge of medical issues, workflow, triage skills and insurance needs of NEVHC patients.
  • 8. Thorough working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures.
  • 9. Math skills sufficient to prepare routine spreadsheets, calculate/balance invoices/expense reports, and similar including medication dosage calculations, reading measurements on scales, rulers, syringes.
  • 10. Demonstrated supervisory skills sufficient to supervise from 1 to 50 employees.
  • 11. Demonstrated managerial skills sufficient to manage from 1 to 50 employees through other supervisors and/or managers.
  • 12. Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), electronic health record systems, and database systems.
  • 13. Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.
  • 14. Very effective oral and written communications skills including public speaking experience.
  • 16. Fluency in English (speaks, read and write).
  • 17. Fluency in Spanish (speak, translate, read and write) is preferred
  • 18. Ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • 19. Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
  • 20. Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among members and staff.
  • 21. Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
  • 22. Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision. Self-starter, reliable and dependable.
  • 23. Demonstrated proficiency with the electronic health record database within three months of attending training session(s).
  • 24. Ability to solve problems and make routine recommendations.
  • 25. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.
  • 26. Current California driver's license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC's insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).
