Wayne County Government is seeking a Deputy Treasurer/CFO to act as the Executive Manager of the County's cash and investment portfolio and oversee accounting and distribution of tax dollars.

The role emphasizes budget compliance, internal audits, and comprehensive financial reporting while guiding staff development and long-range financial planning. Strong leadership and public-sector experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Seven years minimum government tax management/accounting experience.
• Five years minimum management experience in a medium to large public agency finance department.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for treasury operations and long-range planning.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, IRS requirements.
• Prepare and present financial reports for leadership and stakeholders.
• Strengthen internal controls and mitigate financial risks.
• Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
• Monitor developments in public finance and advise leadership.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close and reconciliations.
• Lead Treasury audit preparation and respond to inquiries.
• Supervise cash flow management and forecasting.
• Supervise Finance staff and support staff development.
• Support debt administration and refinancing opportunities.
